About Newshound

Last updated October 11, 2026

Newshound is an AI-assisted local news service. Software reads the news sources that already cover a town or a topic, picks out what matters to people there, and writes short summaries. Every summary links to the original story, so the reporters who did the work get the credit and the click.

We are not a newsroom with reporters on the ground, and we don't pretend to be one.

How it works

  • Automated agents check each community's sources: local papers, TV and radio sites, government and police feeds, event listings, and some community forums.
  • AI decides which items are local and relevant, then writes a short summary of each one. Those summaries are marked AI-summarized and name the source.
  • Police blotter entries, meeting records and other public records are shown as the agency published them. We don't have AI rewrite them, and we link to the agency's record.
  • Newsletters are written by AI from the same material, then checked automatically against it. A newsletter may be written in a friendly first-person voice; that voice is AI-written, not a local reporter.

Who is accountable

A person is responsible for what we publish: the Newshound editor. The editor sets our editorial policy, reviews reports from readers, and handles corrections and removals.

Reach the editor at [email protected].

What we don't do

  • We don't invent reporters or present AI writing as the work of a human journalist.
  • We don't make up quotes, sources or events.
  • We don't republish whole articles. We summarize and send you to the original.
  • We don't let advertisers buy coverage. Ads are labeled Sponsored.

AI makes mistakes. When it does, tell us. Stories and blotter entries have a “Report an issue” link, and you can always email the editor.
