Corrections and removals

Last updated October 11, 2026

When we get something wrong, we want to fix it. Our summaries are written by AI, and AI makes mistakes. So do the sources we summarize. Telling us is the fastest way to get it corrected.

How to ask for a correction

  • On the item itself: stories and police blotter entries have a “Report an issue” link. Pick what's wrong, add a sentence of detail, and leave an email if you'd like to hear back. Reports go straight to a review queue.
  • By email: write to [email protected] with a link to the item (or the newsletter date and town) and what should change.

The Newshound editor reviews every report. We aim to reply within 2 business days, sooner for anything that names a private person.

Police blotter and public records

Blotter entries come from police and court records as the agency published them. An arrest or charge is not a conviction. If you're named in an entry and:

  • the charges were dropped or withdrawn,
  • you were found not guilty,
  • the record was expunged or sealed, or
  • it's the wrong person,

use “Report an issue” on the entry (choose “Charges were dropped or the case was resolved” or “This is the wrong person / not me”) or email us. You don't need to send court papers to start; we may ask for something that confirms the outcome. When it checks out, we update or remove the entry.

What happens after we fix something

If a correction changes the meaning of an item, we note it on the affected item. Removals are simply removed. If the mistake came from the original source, we'll tell you so you can ask them to correct it too, since our summary will follow their correction.

A newsletter that has already been emailed can't be recalled from inboxes. If one contained a significant error, we correct it in the next issue.
